Sizing
You can make your washcloth any size. I find that when I use average worsted-weight cotton yarn, beginning with a chain of 30 is a good size. But feel free to add more (to make it larger) or add less (to make it smaller) stiches in your foundation chain.
Border
Feel free to mix up your border as well! I like using the simple, delicate scalloped edge, but get as creative as you want! Whatever border you use, I encourage you to begin with a single crochet the whole way around before adding border design.
Gift-Giving
For gift-giving, I enjoy making sets of washcloths. Consider choosing three or four coordinating colors of the same yarn. Keep the body of the washcloth all the same and change up the borders if you’d like. Tie them together with ribbon or twine for a beautifully presented, and thoughtfully made, one-of-a-kind gift.
