Chicken noodle soup is a classic comfort food. Simple and satisfying, it’s perfect for warming up on a cold day.
While you can buy canned chicken noodle soup at the store, making it from scratch is easy and much more delicious. And this homemade chicken noodle soup recipe is a super kid-friendly recipe. All three of our kids love this dish, especially when we throw in fun-shaped pasta like stars or alphabet pasta.
Even our one-year-old enjoys eating this soup; when feeding her, we are sure to cut the chicken up into little bitty pieces and typically drain off the broth for her, to avoid some of the mess.

Freeze It For Later
Pour leftover chicken noodle soup into a freezer bag, squeeze out all the air, seal, label, and freeze for up to six months. When you’re ready to use it, thaw, reheat, and eat. To thaw, either put the bag in the refrigerator long enough to thaw, or for a quicker method, let the sealed bag sit in a large bowl of warm water just until thawed. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop.
